Generating Energy from footsteps

Renewable energy from every single step...

Applications

Key applications include powering street lighting, displays, and signage. The system is particularly useful where grid connections are not feasible or where there is a requirement for a low carbon solution.

The power generated by the Pavegen slabs can be used to charge batteries or for various low power applications.

The Potential
Up to 52,000 people per hour pass through busy train stations. The average person takes around 200 million steps in their lifetime.

Installation Sites
The ideal sites for Pavegen include busy streets, transport hubs, offices, events, schools and shopping centres. The Pavegen product has been designed to withstand these harsh high footfall environments while providing a key energy function.

With a growing need to minimise the carbon footprint, Pavegen offers an interactive and visible way for people to engage with sustainability and low carbon initiatives.

Imagine replacing all concrete paving slabs with a low carbon alternative that can power the lights in a building?

Increased Pedestrian Safety

Pavegen Systems is working with one of the leading recycled rubber paving slab manufacturers to offer tactile paving slabs that generates energy at pedestrian crossings.

Often lighting is used in these areas to make pedestrians more visible; busy crossings can now be self sufficient, increasing the safety of its users with a retro fitted Pavegen slab that requires no grid connection. The rubber is produced from 100% recycled car tyres.
