West Ham Tube station - Olympics 2012, London

Pavegen powers Olympics transport hub

West Ham Tube station was one of the main London Underground routes into the 2012 Olympic Games. The footfall passing through the station and across the Pavegen installation provided an ideal case-study location for Pavegen to monitor the units' performance in terms of energy output and footfall counting, and access public engagement.

The installation demonstrated that the units can be used effectively as both an off grid power source and as a 'smart tile' that can provide footfall data.
