Three iconic locations. Thousands of footsteps. One powerful mission.
This summer, during London Climate Action Week and Wimbledon, we're inviting the public to quite literally step up for climate action.
From 22 Bishopsgate’s bustling smart city hub to the historic vibrancy of Old Spitalfields Market, and the global spotlight of The Championships, Wimbledon, Pavegen has launched three brand new installations across London that turn everyday movement into measurable environmental impact.
For every 200 footsteps recorded on our kinetic floors, we’re planting a tree. Together, we’re aiming to grow a forest the size of Wimbledon Centre Court offsetting around 1,000 tonnes of CO₂ over the trees’ lifetime.
💡 Why It Matters
We believe climate action should be active, visible, and empowering.
Pavegen’s unique kinetic technology doesn’t just generate renewable energy, it creates engagement, showing how human movement can become a catalyst for positive change. Combined with live dashboards, LED feedback, and real-time impact tracking, these installations are helping people understand that their steps count for more than just fitness. This isn’t climate guilt. This is climate empowerment.

About Pavegen
Pavegen is a purpose-driven technology business that helps power change and generates positive outcomes for people and planet. Laying underfoot inside buildings, public spaces and at events, Pavegen Kinetic Paving harnesses the power of people’s footsteps, creating not only a small amount of energy – but also imaginative, interactive experiences and data, to help educate, engage and enable meaningful actions around sustainability and Net Zero intent. Pavegen calls this Citizen Impact; powered by Pavegen.
Pavegen helps power Kinetic Street Furniture applications such as USB charging, LED lights, and Green Wall irrigation systems, whilst data from the system can be used for public educational purposes on digital display screens. Kinetic Brand Experiences at live events, expos, festivals and public spaces produce data to provide gamified experiences that help brands engage meaningfully with consumers.
The company was founded in 2009 by Laurence Kemball-Cook who invented the Kinetic Paving technology that can now be seen in over 37 countries around the world.
