DUBAI EXPO 2020

THE RACE TO SPACE

EDUCATING THE CURIOUS MINDS OF TOMORROW USING GAMIFICATION

THE CHALLENGE

Ch2m and Mace were looking for a fun, exciting and engaging feature to install in the children’s play area at the Dubai Expo 2020. Their focus was to promote the UAE Space Programme while inspiring young people to become more sustainably conscious and educate them about renewable energy resources. As a children’s play environment, we needed to create something enticing that could capture the attention of young people and encourage them to interact and participate with our sustainable technology…

THE SOLUTION

Pavegen powered the minds of the next generation to build a more sustainable future using their footsteps. We educated the minds of tomorrow by bringing visitors of the exhibition in the North Park Latifa – The Race to Space! Gamification has become the latest and greatest experiential marketing tool to take the world by storm. Pavegen has incorporated this into our instalment at the Dubai Expo 2020 to engage audiences and influence a change in behaviours.

The game is simple, use your footsteps to power the rocket and race against your friends, whoever creates the most kinetic energy, wins! Branded characters of the Dubai Expo, Rashid and Latifa are involved to inspire young people and raise awareness surrounding the individual impact that each of them can have. Creating a game that includes these recognisable characters and actively involves influential visitors can ultimately ignite a change in behaviour. Specifically, towards sustainability conscious behaviours.

THE IMPACT

This project is influencing the next generation, encouraging them to talk, think and be more sustainable. We sparked conversations at the exhibition about how each individual can play a part in building a sustainable future. Using gamification allowed us to capture attention and turn exciting experiences into educational ones as well. We encouraged people to learn more about sustainable technology by actively participating in generating clean off-grid energy which builds a direct connection with each user. Ch2m and Mace successfully used Pavegen to ignite the conversation amongst young people about sustainability
