Empowering Change, our commitment to
sustainable action at #WFES2024
17th April 2024
It’s 2024, time for us to all start proving our commitments to sustainability.
The World Future Energy Summit (WFES) kick started today in Abu Dhabi; an event completely focused on the sustainable means of energy. Naturally, we have joined to show off our energy tech but more than that we are there to show the world how change happens.
In collaboration with RX Middle East, Pavegen have launched a new tree planting energy initiative at WFES. Each step collected at the expected 30,000 strong event will be donated towards the active conservation and reforestation of mangrove trees in the UAE. Why mangroves? Mangrove forests are invaluable ecosystems, providing critical habitat for wildlife, sequestering carbon, and protecting coastlines from erosion and extreme weather events.
The UAE is on a mission to plant 100 million mangroves by 2030. So far, and in only 4 years, they have hit 44% of their target (that’s 44 million!). While we at Pavegen don’t have the ability to plant 1 million trees (yet) we do have the ability to raise awareness, engage citizens, and create community impact around important initiatives like this one.
With RX Middle East and WFES, we are using footsteps to plant 1000 mangrove trees. Using an innovative, gamified experience to donate footsteps and energy towards this goal. We’re transforming regular people into active participants in their own energy story!
The role of sustainability and environmental stewardship.
We're passionate about technology. And the environment. That’s why we do what we do. So now is the time to encourage others to get involved and share our passion for sustainability. We’re starting small at WFES, engaging 30,000 people to come together for an achievable goal. And in achieving said goal, they're actively contributing to the environment around them!
In the pursuit of a more sustainable future we know we must foster collaboration and innovation. We believe that by working together with like-minded organisations and individuals, we can amplify our collective impact and accelerate the transition towards a low carbon, net-zero future.
At WFES, Pavegen will be showcasing our interactive installation that converts human movement into renewable energy, illuminating LED lights and contributing to our mangrove tree planting initiative. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience the tangible impact of their actions as they walk over Pavegen tiles and see the progress towards our goal. Our activation serves as a powerful demonstration of how technology can be harnessed to promote sustainability and environmental conservation.
We invite you to join us in our mission of driving positive environmental change. Whether you're attending the summit or following along from afar, there are many ways to get involved and support our efforts.
