TRUE DIGITAL CITY

BANGKOK, THAILAND

True Digital City, Bangkok, Thailand

We have just completed installation of the first permanent energy and data harvesting walkway to be deployed in Thailand. The Pavegen array is situated on the roof of an award-winning new mixed-use development in Bangkok called Whizdom 101, constructed by MQDC and Gensler. The walkway is harvesting footfall at the location to power an interactive LED lighting display, and data capture and transmission.

Pioneering Sustainable Innovation in Bangkok

True Digital City, a cutting-edge smart city within the Whizdom 101 development in Bangkok, Thailand, aimed to incorporate sustainable technologies that align with its vision for a green and future-forward city. True Digital City wanted to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability, data-driven innovation, and community engagement through interactive and meaningful experiences. The challenge was to integrate a solution that would visually and functionally embody their eco-conscious values while enhancing the overall experience of the residents and visitors.

Permanent Energy and Data Harvesting Walkway

Pavegen collaborated with MQDC and Gensler to design and install Thailand's first permanent kinetic energy and data harvesting walkway. Strategically positioned on the rooftop of the award-winning Whizdom 101 mixed-use development, the Pavegen array captures the energy from foot traffic to power an interactive LED lighting display. As people walk across the walkway, their footsteps generate electricity, which is used to illuminate the space and create a visually dynamic environment.

Additionally, the Pavegen walkway is integrated with a data capture system, allowing for real-time footfall analysis. This data not only provides valuable insights into user engagement but also demonstrates the project's capacity to generate both sustainable energy and useful data for the development.

A Dynamic, Sustainable, and Interactive Experience

The True Digital City installation has transformed the Whizdom 101 rooftop into a symbol of sustainability and innovation. The Pavegen walkway has created a tangible link between energy generation and user interaction, engaging visitors while providing an impactful demonstration of renewable energy solutions.

Energy Generation: The footsteps of visitors are now continuously harvested to power the rooftop’s LED lighting display, creating a visible and interactive experience.

Data Capture: The system provides real-time footfall analytics, offering insight into how users engage with the space, which can be leveraged for future developments.

Sustainability Impact: The installation aligns with True Digital City’s mission to incorporate green technology and sustainability into urban living spaces, reinforcing its position as a leader in smart city innovation.
