CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW, LONDON
GOLD WINNING SUSTAINABLE GARDEN
Pavegen technology was the centre piece of a gold winning sustainable garden at the world’s most prestigious garden design competition. Designed by Kate Gould, and commissioned by London’s leading retail association New West End Company, the garden features two large Pavegen walkways which are enabling lighting, a fan and data in this beautiful setting. The system which also intergrates with solar, will be redeployed in London’s West End this summer.
THE CHALLENGE
21st century shoppers are increasingly concerned with issues regarding sustainability when choosing where to buy from. Lidl wanted to bring its green credentials to life and demonstrate to its customers in Barcelona it is a sustainable business, in a way that is both lasting and memorable.
THE SOLUTION
Allow customers the opportunity to physically interact with sustainability by introducing a touchless solution located right beneath their feet. Through installing a clean energy generating walkway at the entrance of the busy supermarket, with the help of Pavegen, Lidl has been able to create a tangible expression of its sustainability mandate. Footsteps of visitors are generating clean energy to power data screens, informing people of footfall and energy levels whilst they complete the simple task of grocery shopping.
