Educating the Next Generation on Renewable Energy in San Francisco

In partnership with Silicon Valley company Tribal Planet, Pavegen aimed to inspire the next generation of young minds by introducing them to the possibilities of renewable energy. The challenge was to create a hands-on, impactful experience that could meaningfully engage students at a leading junior school in San Francisco. By showcasing the real-world applications of clean energy, Pavegen sought to spark interest in sustainability and the growing opportunities in the low-carbon digital economy.

Interactive Pavegen Array and Educational Presentation

To make renewable energy tangible and exciting for the students, Pavegen deployed a temporary energy-generating walkway on school grounds. This interactive installation, integrated with Tribal Planet’s Citizen app, allowed students to generate real clean energy simply by walking on the array. This not only demonstrated the power of renewable energy but also encouraged the children to think about their impact on the environment.

Pavegen’s Founder and CEO, Laurence Kemball-Cook, led the session, taking the students and staff on a journey through the evolution of Pavegen and the broader significance of renewable energy. The presentation was designed to inspire curiosity and highlight the growing potential of a digital, low-carbon economy for future career opportunities.
