Where Movement Met Meaning
At the Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards, Pavegen showcased how meaningful engagement can drive real sustainability impact.
Alongside the ceremony, we were tasked with bringing our technology to life through interactive installations that reflected the spirit of innovation the event celebrates.
The activation was designed to:
-
-
Highlight Pavegen’s mission of engagement-led sustainability
-
Deliver a striking, interactive moment for award winners and guests
-
Provide measurable, real-time environmental impact
-
Integrate seamlessly into the event’s stage design and ceremony flow
-
What followed was a debut that combined design, storytelling, and purpose, creating moments that were as meaningful for the audience as they were for the Pavegen team.
THE SOLUTION
Pavegen designed and built an eye-catching and stylish installation using strobe lights and gamification with the ‘ElectroShuffle’. The ElectroShuffle challenged visitors to use their best dance moves to generate the most real-time energy in competition with each other. Two Pavegen platforms allowed players to battle for the top spot on the leaderboard and compete for the chance to win tickets to next year’s festival.
Our Solution
Debuting The X2 Chevron
The X2 Chevron, our latest innovation, made its public debut at the awards stage. Designed to respond to every step, it lit up beneath each award winner, transforming moments of recognition into interactive celebrations full of movement and light.
Beyond the stage, we installed a 7sqm Pavegen walkway, allowing all guests to experience the technology firsthand. The walkway showcased how interaction could become measurable impact - giving participants a tangible, memorable way to engage with sustainability.
Using our new live data dashboard and mobile software, guests could see the system in action and even track their contribution in real time. The installation wasn’t just visually striking; it invited everyone to step into impact, demonstrating the power of engagement-led sustainability in a fun, interactive way.

Did we meet the target?
What made this activation truly special was the way it transformed simple footsteps into a shared sense of achievement.
The target was clear: 1,000 trees planted in Oxfordshire. As the numbers climbed, the growing anticipation inspired people to keep moving, stepping, and contributing.
By the end of the night, the results spoke for themselves:
-
👟 5,569 steps collected
-
🔋 16,708 joules of energy generated
-
🌱 1,000 trees planted in Oxfordshire
In that room, sustainability wasn’t just spoken about; it was felt, celebrated, and shared. Every step became a reminder that small actions, when shared, can create extraordinary impact.
