OXFORD STREET, LONDON
LONDON
TRANSFORMING A DISUSED SIDE STREET INTO A SMART AND ENGAGING SHOPPING DESTINATION
THE CHALLENGE
Shoppers expect more from retailers, in terms of both an engaging experience and attitudes towards sustainability. Utilising the high footfall of one of London’s premier retail location, London’s New West End company wanted to transform a disused side street into a smart and engaging shopping destination.
THE SOLUTION
Installing a clean energy generating Pavegen walkway along the street transformed a neglected space into a smart, interactive shopping destination. With the high footfall in the area, visitors of all ages could get involved in the action. Shoppers’ footsteps helped contribute power to lights, bird sounds and energy analytics creating an engaging sensory area for individuals as well as a place for the community to come together. Once a forgotten side street was transformed into a sustainable and captivating energy-generating experience.
