Pavegen installed 176 tiles along the Champs-Élysées on the final stretch of the race. Marathon

runners competed against each other on the final sprint to generate the most energy. The

energy created was displayed on a large screen and powered LED signage beside the race in

real time.

The race accumulated over 40,000 footsteps. The event received worldwide coverage in news outlets including The Guardian, Bloomberg and the National Observer.

Creating a High-Impact Experience for the Champs-Élysées Marathon

In collaboration with Schneider Electric, Pavegen was given a significant challenge to enhance the final stretch of the iconic Champs-Élysées Marathon. Schneider Electric sought to showcase their commitment to sustainable energy solutions by creating a memorable and interactive experience for runners and spectators.

The objective was to integrate Schneider’s focus on energy efficiency with Pavegen's innovative kinetic technology in a way that would captivate the marathon participants and demonstrate the power of clean energy. The aim was to blend athletic competition with a compelling display of energy generation, all set against the backdrop of one of the world's most renowned marathon routes.

 

Race to Generate Energy: Interactive Walkway Energises the Paris Marathon

To achieve this, Pavegen installed an impressive 176 kinetic tiles along the final stretch of the marathon route. Runners were challenged to generate the most energy through their footsteps, which was captured and displayed in real time on an interactive leaderboard.

The energy generated was showcased on a large screen and used to power LED signage alongside the race, creating a dynamic and engaging environment for both participants and spectators.
