A 13 SQUARE-METRE PAVEGEN WALKWAY HAS BEEN INSTALLED AT THE EDGBASTON CAMPUS

University of Birmingham Enhances Edgbaston Campus with Interactive Pavegen Walkway

The University of Birmingham sought to foster a stronger sense of community and deepen connections with students on their Edgbaston Campus. To achieve this, they installed a 13-square-metre Pavegen walkway, designed to transform everyday foot traffic into a dynamic and interactive experience.

This innovative installation not only enhances the campus environment but also actively engages students, making sustainability a part of their daily routine and creating a tangible link between their actions and environmental impact.

In a bid to reclaim the 'Green Heart' of its campus, the University of Birmingham has introduced an innovative Pavegen walkway, spanning 13 square meters, to foster a culture of sustainability and community involvement. Students now have the opportunity to personally contribute to environmental efforts by generating electricity with each step they take on the walkway.

This not only powers devices across the campus but also provides real-time analytics, allowing students to see the immediate impact of their contributions. The installation transforms everyday activity into a meaningful act of sustainability, benefiting both the individual and the broader campus community.
