H6 CONET

HONG KONG, CHINA

Our first ever installation in China, right in the heart of Hong Kong.

With the help of the Urban Renewal Authority, a statutory body to undertake urban renewal of Hong Kong, we permanently installed an array in H6 CONET, a shared community in a mixed-use high-rise in Central district. With the purpose of educating visitors around sustainability issues, footsteps at the site are being transformed into real-time data and interactive light display. With another exciting project in mainland China about to deploy, we’re excited about the role Pavagen tech can play in the sustainable transformation of this region.

Educating and Engaging Urban Communities on Sustainability

Hong Kong, a densely populated metropolis, faces significant challenges related to sustainability and urban renewal. The URA, responsible for revitalising urban areas, sought a way to educate the public on sustainability issues within H6 CONET—a shared community space that serves as a hub for residents and visitors. The goal was to create an engaging and interactive experience that would not only raise awareness about sustainability but also demonstrate the potential of renewable energy technologies in urban environments.

Transforming Footsteps into Data and Light

Pavegen provided a cutting-edge solution by installing a permanent array of its kinetic energy tiles within H6 CONET. As visitors walk across the tiles, their footsteps are converted into off-grid energy, which powers an interactive light display. This visual representation of energy generation serves as both an educational tool and a captivating feature of the space, drawing attention to the importance of sustainability in everyday life.

In addition to powering the light display, the Pavegen system collects real-time data on footfall and energy generation. This data is accessible to the public, offering insights into the impact of their actions and further reinforcing the connection between individual behaviour and broader sustainability goals. The installation is a tangible demonstration of how urban spaces can be reimagined to promote environmental consciousness.

Hong Kong's Sustainable Urban Future & PAVEGEN

The installation at H6 CONET has successfully transformed a community space into a living example of sustainable innovation. By engaging visitors with an interactive and educational experience, the project has heightened awareness of sustainability issues and demonstrated the practical applications of renewable energy technologies in urban settings.

The success of this project has paved the way for further expansion of Pavegen technology in the region, with a new installation set to launch in mainland China. As these projects continue to unfold, Pavegen is poised to play a crucial role in the sustainable transformation of urban spaces across Asia, helping cities like Hong Kong and others in the region to address their environmental challenges through innovative solutions.
