Pavegen’s Kinetic Technology Powers UEFA Festival’s Headline Act

Sports and Music Fans Power Rudimental’s Performance, Showcasing Future of Sustainability at Large-Scale Events

4 June 2024, London, UK - Pavegen, the UK-based technology company renowned for its kinetic energy-generating floor tiles, used the energy from people dancing to power a music performance by British dance act Rudimental. It captivated the audience at the ‘sold-out’ UEFA Champions Festival Friday Night Show in Trafalgar Square on 31 May. 

The event, held in conjunction with the Champions Innovate Programme and Rockstar Energy Drink, showcased Pavegen’s innovative technology, making history as the first time a music artist in Trafalgar Square has been powered by the kinetic energy of event participants. 

The Friday Night Show, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink and headlined by the BRIT Award winning band Rudimental, was the highlight of the festival. The event blended the excitement of football and music, drawing a diverse crowd of fans.

Over 6,300 attendees danced on Pavegen’s kinetic tiles which helped power Rudimental’s DJ booth and microphone and during their high energy set. This interactive installation provided an immersive fan experience and showcased Pavegen’s commitment to off-grid energy generation and sustainable energy solutions.

Participants expressed their delight at the experience. Daniel, a festival goer from London commented, “I really like this dance floor, it’s great, it feels so responsive - it’s cool that it’s the first time ever something like this has been done in Trafalgar Square!” Amir from Surrey added, “It’s amazing how the floor is making electricity for the show. It makes me want to dance more!”
