How Pavegen's Kinetic Energy Floors are Revolutionising Live Marketing & Powering Brand Experiences.
22nd February 2024
Creating a lasting impression with consumers can be challenging for marketers. It's not enough to simply push products and services; we must find innovative ways to connect with our audience and make a real impact. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is through live brand experiences, and kinetic brand experiences have been proven to be particularly powerful and effective.
What is a Kinetic Brand Experience?
Kinetic brand experiences use human movement to generate energy that powers interactive installations, games, and displays. These experiences are not only engaging and fun but also create a strong connection between the consumer and the brand. They also resonate with consumers who are concerned about sustainability and net-zero goals because they can see the direct impact of their actions on the environment.
At Pavegen, we are passionate about creating sustainable and interactive brand experiences, and our innovative energy floor technology is at the forefront of this trend. Our flooring system converts human footfall into electrical energy, providing a unique and impactful platform for brands to connect with their audience.
How health brand, Abbott, harnessed this experience:
One example of a successful Pavegen-powered kinetic brand experience is our collaboration with global healthcare company Abbott. They wanted to raise awareness of their sports hydration and performance products during the TCS London Marathon Running Show, and we worked with TSMGI, a global sports and event marketing agency, to design a unique kinetic brand experience that would engage thousands of competitors and visitors at the show.
Our experience involved a two-game challenge that allowed participants to test their speed and endurance against elite athletes. The electrical energy data from our kinetic energy floor was used to analyse participant performance in both games and converted into real-life human performance statistics, such as carbohydrates and energy consumed during each gameplay. Participants were also given the opportunity to sample Abbott's performance consumer products at the end of each game.
The kinetic brand experience was a massive success, attracting the attention and awareness of thousands of global visitors during both the London and Chicago marathons in 2022 and again at the London marathon in 2023. The Abbott stand also saw appearances from professional footballer Álvaro Arbeloa and Eliud Kipchoge, further raising awareness of the brand.
The impact of the kinetic brand experience was significant, with brand activations at both the Chicago and London Marathon Expos reaching over 150,000 people at each race. Consumer understanding and awareness of Abbott as a brand in the wellness and health technology space increased significantly due to the Pavegen-powered kinetic brand experience.
Kinetic brand experiences offer a powerful tool for brands looking to engage with their audience on a personal level. By using human movement to create interactive, sustainable experiences, brands can create a lasting impact that resonates with consumers long after the event is over. Pavegen's innovative energy floor technology is a unique and impactful platform for brands looking to create meaningful connections with their audience.

About Pavegen
Pavegen is a purpose-driven technology business that helps power change and generates positive outcomes for people and planet. Laying underfoot inside buildings, public spaces and at events, Pavegen Kinetic Paving harnesses the power of people’s footsteps, creating not only a small amount of energy – but also imaginative, interactive experiences and data, to help educate, engage and enable meaningful actions around sustainability and Net Zero intent. Pavegen calls this Citizen Impact; powered by Pavegen.
Pavegen helps power Kinetic Street Furniture applications such as USB charging, LED lights, and Green Wall irrigation systems, whilst data from the system can be used for public educational purposes on digital display screens. Kinetic Brand Experiences at live events, expos, festivals and public spaces produce data to provide gamified experiences that help brands engage meaningfully with consumers.
